Richard Rubin Celaya was born on February 6, 1945 in Reedley, CA to Teofilo (Ted) and Dolores Celaya. Richard was the 11th of 13 children. He was a dedicated and successful student in school. He attended Reedley High School and was part of the Acapella school choir, wrestling team, and football team, even recording an album with his choir. He also achieved being on the All-Star State Champion team, a highlight in his football days. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was stationed in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. There he became a Sergeant. Upon honorable discharge, he returned to Reedley where he studied Accounting at Reedley College and Fresno State University. Richard worked at Fruehauf Trucking in Fresno for over 20 years. Later, he worked at Sony Music Distribution also for almost 20 years. Richard was a family man and loved his family very much. He leaves behind his wife, Sandra Celaya, daughters Jennifer Celaya and Janna Celaya, and son Richard Celaya. His beloved grandchildren are Aaron Arreola and Evelyn Arreola. His parents, brothers and sister preceded him in death.
