Born in Wetaskwin, Alberta on September 25, 1927. Alma Passed away on March 13, 2018 in Regina at Pioneer Village. She is predeceased by her husband Alfred John Baptiste Bourassa; her three children Alfred John Paul Bourassa, Mitchell Bourassa and Shirley Flood; by grandchild Gregory Flood, two great grandchildren Bradin and Nicholas and by two brothers Jack Quast and Albert Twast. She is survived by her children, Thelma Adams, Susan Bourassa, Ovila (Melody) Bourassa, Marilyn (Christopher) Shepherd and Ronald Bourassa; 16 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers: John Quast (Olive) of Edmonton and Charlie Quast (Priscilla) from Winnipeg and by sister Margaret (Archie) MacDonald of Regina. Alma had married Alfred on May 26, 1951. She professed her faith in the Roman Catholic Church in 1952. Her strength, courage and acts of love were clearly guided by those two decisions. As well as being a beloved mother of 8 children, she was generous with her time and talents to the Holy Rosary Parish and to the community. She was a member of the CWL since 1956 and served as president for three terms. She was a Girl Guide leader, enjoyed visiting shut-ins and driving them to church. She loved doing all things in creating a home; cooking, baking, canning, quilting, knitting, crocheting, cleaning, gardening and painting. Her fondest memories are gatherings at the cottage at Saskatchewan Beach, going to the boys’ hockey and baseball games and Girl Guide camping. She also enjoyed travelling, especially to visit family and friends all around the country. After all the kids were well in school she worked at the Wascana Hospital from 1974-1992, when she retired. In the last years of her life the staff of Pioneer Village patiently cared for her. The family send their gratitude to the staff. Her children Susan, Ovila and Ronald were with her in her last hours. We will miss her dearly, but let her go with love to be with her mate and her maker. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 3125 13th Avenue, Regina, SK on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at 11:00am with Rev. John Weckend officiating; reception downstairs after mass and interment to follow at Riverside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, family and friends may make donations to the Alzheimer’s Society.
