1917 – 2012
Peacefully, on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, at the age of 94, with her family at her side, Anne was delivered into the arms of the angels she loved so much. Anne was predeceased by her husbands Tony Batza in 1973 and Al Berling in 2005. She is survived by her daughters Dianne (Bob) Harvey of Regina and Judy (Roland) LaHaye of Calgary. She leaves four grandchildren – Jodie (Todd) Harris, Vancouver; Tyler Puscas, Seoul, Korea; Andra (Jamie) Coulter, Calgary; and Kyla LaHaye, Calgary; five great-grandchildren of whom she was so proud – Keelan, Mason, Avery and lovingly awaited identical twin girls; step-children Sharon McKenzie, Calgary; Trent Berling, Weyburn; Todd Berling, Calgary, and their families. Anne was born in Lipov, Czechoslovakia, July 14, 1917. Her family immigrated to Canada in 1928, where Anne grew up near Hazenmore in southwest Saskatchewan. In her younger years Anne worked for Elizabeth Arden Cosmetics in Toronto, then for many years in downtown Regina retail. She was manager of the dress shop in the Regina Inn mall at the time of her retirement. Anne was born to dance, and she and Al often entertained at seniors’ centres in Regina. She had a great love for and pride in her daughters and family, and a passionate love of animals, especially her beloved dog Sam, her house Angel, and family pets Jake, Jenga, and Kia. Anne was a woman of beauty, grace and elegance, and she will live forever in our hearts. The family would like to give special thanks to Ruth and Vince Morrison for their most valued friendship and to the staff of Harbour House in Wintergreen Estates for their wonderful, compassionate care. A memorial service celebrating Anne’s life will be held at a later date. Donations in Anne’s name can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke
Foundation.
Arrangements under the direction of Lee Funeral Home, Regina, SK.
