Beatrice Lloyd (nee McLeod) Native name Niiwak Binesii Ikwe (Four Directions Thunderbird Woman) was born June 28, 1934 in Camperville Manitoba.
She was predeceased by her “Dearie” Ken Lloyd in 1970. Mom came from a family of nine sisters and three brothers. She was predeceased by her mother Virginia, father John, Ken’s dad Graham, Ken’s mom Ruby, Ken’s sisters Jean and Linda. Also her sisters Alma, Agnes, Flo, Nellie, Lena, Mary, Ollie and brother Sebastian. She is survived by her son Graham (Shirley) their children Stacey (Lance and MacKenzie) Kelvin (Steph Kallie and Maci) Graham (Diana and Riley) and Connie (Sean, Hudson and Cohen) Becky (Mark, Jacob and Emily) Sandy (Lucas); daughter Lena (Ken, Beth, Jeremiah, Kenny and Olivia and her extended family the Lavallee’s), Patricia (Shayne); son Frank (Cheryl, Cody, Jessie, Brandon and Levi); daughter Anna (Mitch, Bev and Ryan and Melinda); daughter Teresa (Arnie, Austin and Katelyn, Christian and Samara); daughter Barbara (Darren) and a special son Gene who she fostered when Gene needed a loving home; sisters Marilyn and Bernie; brothers Eugene and Francis, sister in law Kathy and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom also is survived by a very special friend Mike.
She came to Regina in 1952 and met her Dearie while working as a waitress at the Embassy Restaurant and Dad was working for Firestone Tire. They married in 1954. Their family grew with six children. Dad passed away in 1970. Mom was left to raise the six children on her own. She was the best Mom and lived for her kids. As we got older with families of our own she became the best Grandma. She was the cornerstone of our family and was always available for her kids and also numerous Nieces and Nephews. Her love and strength helped us all.
Her Grandson Austin held a very special place in his Grandma’s heart. The bond was made when Austin was born and Mom devoted many days of her time to make sure Austin was never alone in the Hospital. To this day that bond is still strong as ever and Austin will miss his “Grams”.
Mom’s influence on our extended family was shown by the amount of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends who came by to express their love and how thankful they were to have had her in their lives. Mom was able to visit with all who came and shared many good Betty stories with lots of laughter.
We would like to send a very special Thank You to our sister Teresa, her husband Arnie and sons Austin and Christian for opening their home to all who came and provided an atmosphere of love, joy and happiness for Mom’s last days. We are all so very grateful.
Also thanks to the Palliative Care nurses who assisted us in all our needs and answered all our questions. To Dr Bonnie Richardson and the Saskatchewan Homecare Team for helping Mom stay independent for so long. To the staff at the Marion Chateau a special thanks for being so good to Mom.
