It is with great sadness that the family of Dayna Sanheim announce her passing after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 43. Dayna was predeceased by her paternal grandfather Alvin Sanheim and maternal grandparents Raymond and Catherine Knoll. Dayna is survived by her spouse Neil Helfrick; daughter Mayson Beaton (CJ); her grandchildren Luxanna, Luca, and Caitlin; loving parents Dean and Joan Sanheim; brother Morgan (Stacy) Sanheim and their children Keagan, Carlee and Ryley; her sister Jodi (Carey) Sanheim; as well as her in-laws Steve and Brenda Helfrick; and numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends. Dayna grew up in the small town of Tyvan. She graduated from Fillmore High School (33 Central) in 1996 and continued her education as a young single mom to achieve her R.M.T. designation in 2001. Her previous classmates and co-workers will always remember her vibrant personality and of course, her beautiful smile. Dayna had the ability to light up the room, her smile was contagious. Her laughter and bubbly personality made all that met her instantly love her. She was beautiful inside and out. She always put the needs of others above her own. The love for her daughter and grandchildren knew no bounds (even though she had a hard time admitting she was actually old enough to be a grandma). Dayna enjoyed the outdoors, whether it be a bike ride, a walk around the lake, camping, or just simply sitting in the backyard on a warm summer day. Dayna and Neil also enjoyed snowboarding in the winter months. She was always up for a good time and lived life to the fullest. May this next adventure be her best one yet! We would like to express our gratitude to the numerous doctors and nurses at the Allan Blair Cancer Clinic and in the Palliative Care Unit at the Pasqua Hospital for their exceptional care of our Dayna. A private funeral service (due to Covid-19 restrictions) will be held at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home on April 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. A live stream of the service will be available for those who cannot attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dayna can be made to Craig’s Cause Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, PO Box 8561, Halifax, Nova Scotia, B3K 5M3 or at www.craigscause.ca.
