Dean Sherwood Bear

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of beloved brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, Dean Sherwood Bear.

October 9, 1963 – June 24, 2026.

Dean was a loving and caring kind of guy. Dean loved his family and friends. In his days here, he loved sports, hockey, baseball, and helping where his helping hands and heart were needed. He hiked from here to there, as he was the kind of man who could not stay put for too long. Dean was a very big believer in his traditional ways for Mother Earth.

Dean is predeceased by his mother, Wilma Dorothy Bear (nee Yuzicappi); baby, Elaine, Geraldine, Germaine, Ethel Elaine, Elliot, Charlene, Gloria, Brenda; sister, Grace Yuzicappi; brothers, Leslie, Ivan, Percy; his father, John Tawiyaka Sr. (Jeff). Deborah, Margaret, Rose, Inez, Tina, Sidney, John Jr.

Dean is survived by his sisters and brothers, Glenda, Bruce, Arletta, Heather, Gerald (Marilyn), Lisa Tawiyaka, Bryce; his adopted children he took as his own, Brandy Goodwill, Sadie McLeod, Dion Standingready. Our beloved brother leaves to mourn many who he had an impact on their lives. He will be sadly missed by all.

The Wake Service will be held at Standing Buffalo Gym, on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at 5:00 pm. The Funeral Service will be on Friday, July 3, 2026 at 10:00 am, at the same location. Interment will be held at Our Lady of Light Cemetery on Standing Buffalo.
