October 15, 1909 – June 1, 2011
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my mother, Dorothy Annie Beatrice Jinks (nee Slow) on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the age of 101 years. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband William, parents Albert & Jessie; brother Stanley and sister Balbina. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Wendy Jinks of Regina and niece Sheila Runquist & her family of Calgary. Born in Tottenham, England, she came to Canada with her family at the age of three and settled in Moose Jaw. Dorothy was pianist with a dance band in her teens. While working as a switchboard operator in Assiniboia she married & operated a family grocery strore. A move to Regina saw her raising her daughter & caring for the home. Later she joined the sales staff at Eaton’s in the pet department continuing her love of animals there & later in her retirement. At Dorothy’s request, there will be no funeral service. Family interment of cremated remains will be at a later date in Moose Jaw. As Dorothy loved gardening, birds & animals of all kinds in lieu of flowers, please remember her when planting yours this year or donate to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK S4P 3G7. Special thanks to Dr. Q. Ahmed and all doctors, nurses & staff at Emergency, 4A and Palliative Care 3A, Pasqua Hospital and Regina Wascana Grace Hospice for your kind and compassionate care of not only Dorothy but Wendy & friends visiting.
Arrangements under the direction of Lee Funeral Home and Crematorium, Regina, SK.
