Douglas George Howie passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 9:10 a.m. at the Pasqua Hospital Palliative Care Unit at 65 years of age. Doug was predeceased by his parents Charles and Geraldine and his brother Jim. Doug is survived by his children Chad (Angie) and their children Coleman and Ava; Blake (Dana) and their children Mazie and Kinzlie; Christa (Kim) and their children Dax and Bohdi; sisters Charlotte (Greg) and Gerri (Gail); brother Gene; and numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was born in Regina at Grey Nuns Hospital on August 4, 1953. He attended Benson School and Martin Collegiate High School. Throughout his life he was known to have a great sense of humor and fast wit. Twenty five years later he went to SIAST and became an LPN. He spent the past twenty years of his life as an LPN, finishing his career working in Palliative Care at the Pasqua Hospital. Just over the past year he fought with the diagnosis of cancer. He had only one big regret that he will not be dancing at his grandchildren’s wedding. His favorite quote was “In all its sham, drudgery, broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. Be cheerful, strive to be happy.” In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 300-4101 Dewdney Ave, Regina SK S4T 7T1 or to Chad and Blake’s charity “The Hemorrhoid Society.” Douglas will be missed by his family and friends very much.
