Ernest Willard Yaganiski

Ernie was born on May 10, 1944, on the family farm located eight miles north of Hyas, Saskatchewan. He built a life rooted in hard work, dedication, and love for his family.

Ernie devoted more than 30 years of his career to SaskTel as a Mobile Radio Repairman. He took great pride in his work and was known for his dedication, reliability, and quiet strength.

Following his retirement in 1997, he happily returned to his farming roots, spending many fulfilling years working alongside his brother Leonard on the family farm. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors and the satisfaction that came from a day's work on the land.

Family was the centre of Ernie's life. He especially cherished time spent with his grandchildren on camping trips, creating lasting memories around campfires, sharing stories, and enjoying the simple pleasures of being together. Those moments will forever be treasured by all who knew and loved him.

Although Barbara passed away many years before him, Ernie remained a cherished member of her family. He maintained a close relationship with his in-laws, making regular trips to visit his mother-in-law, Florence, and faithfully attending family gatherings and celebrations over the years. Their love and friendship meant a great deal to him, and he was grateful to always be welcomed as family.

Ernie is survived by his children and their families: Tina (Pat) Ridgway, grandchildren R.J. (Natasha), Sarah, and Kenny; great-grandchildren Peyton, Sawyer, Declan, Makayla, and Daylynn; Cheri (Jason) Roske, grandchildren Brandon (Josie) and Andrew; and Blair, grandchildren Mathew and Kiley.

He is also survived by his siblings: Ron (Elaine) of Mossbank, SK; Eleanor (Bill) Novik of Danbury, SK; Patricia Chamberland of Ottawa, ON; Leonard of Hyas, SK; Christine of Regina, SK; and Jerry (Pat) of Kamsack, SK, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ernie was predeceased by his parents, Cassie and Pete Yaganiski; and his two infant brothers, Milard and Larry.

In his later years, Ernie lived with Alzheimer's disease, a difficult journey for both him and those who loved him. In his final days, the compassionate staff at Golden Prairie Home in Indian Head provided exceptional care and kindness, offering comfort not only to Ernie but also to his family. Their compassion and support will never be forgotten.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we find comfort knowing that Ernie is now reunited with Barbara and is at peace.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home and Cremation, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, Saskatchewan. Interment will take place at a later date in Lebret, Saskatchewan, where Ernie will be laid to rest beside his beloved Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Ernie's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Canada, in support of research, education, and programs that help individuals and families affected by Alzheimer's disease.
