Evelyn Rice

Evelyn Geraldine Rice (nee Grunsky) born December 11, 1941 in Humboldt, Saskatchewan passed away on August 27th, 2021. Her parents were Michael Grunsky born in Antonavkz, Russia (Jan 11, 1882-May 30,1954) and Anna Louise Grunsky (nee Hall), born in London, England (Aug 23,1898-Nov 9,1988). Evy was the youngest of eleven children raised on a farm in Humbolt, Saskatchewan. Wife and partner to Gary Rice whom she married in June 1963. They were married for 51 years and she loved to talk about her time at their beloved farm in Pilot Butte with their many pets. She showed great care and determination in caring for Gary when he became ill until his passing on May 2, 2015. Sister to John (deceased), Anne (deceased), Marge, Bob (deceased), Helen (deceased), Edith(deceased), Hank, Jim (deceased), Hilda (deceased) and Louise (deceased) . She always had a special place in her heart for Gary Grunsky and his wife Annie and spoke of her wonderful visit to the Yukon to spend time with them. Evy was always sharing great stories about growing up and enjoyed a good laugh with friends and family. She was fiercely independent and determined to the end. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Evy worked for the Regina Police Service starting as a temp employee in 1973 moving to the position of Financial Services Manager which she retired from in 2001. She was very proud of her work with the Service.
