Helen K. Luzny

1937 - 2023

Helen passed away on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at the age of 85 years and is now resting peacefully with the love of her life, Lawrence Luzny. Helen K. Luzny (nee Folk) is survived by her children Debbie Luzny, Larry Luzny, Kurt Luzny, Aaron (Charlene) Luzny, Donna (Robert) Lang, and grandchildren Joshlyn Luzny, Jessica (Tim) Quinney with great-grandson Theodore Quinney, Desiree Luzny (Lesley Bostock), Ranita Luzny (Kody Poitras), Braden (Cassandra) Lang, Jarrett Lang, and Kelsy Lang.

Helen was a kind, loving mom and farm wife. Family was her focus and passion and moving to the farm in 1963 she found her sanctuary. She was a jack of all trades who loved mixed farming with her husband Lawrence. Whenever she had a chance, she would go to the valley pasture to sit on top of the hill to check on the cattle, take the kids hiking or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet. She was very creative and when she had the time would draw, paint or do crafts. There was always lots of laughs in the house.

Growing up, many Christmases saw Lawrence's side of the family over for Christmas Eve supper; while Helen's side were over Christmas Day - we don't know how she did it. Christmas Eve saw fish, cabbage rolls, perogies, sausage, and cheese rolls along with the works. Christmas Day saw great turkey suppers. Year in and year out we all looked forward to the fellowship and food. Helen was the centre, but always ate last. She’d also extend this generosity to friends and family and workers in the area who would often come for coffee or stay for a meal. She always made sure everyone was well fed and taken care of.

The Visitation will take place on Thursday, June 1, 2023 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at Lee Funeral Home, Regina, SK. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the R.C. Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Holdfast, SK., with Fr. Lawrence DeMong presiding. Lunch to follow. Interment will then follow at the Holdfast Cemetery.
