It is with great sorrow we announce that Gilbert Goetz passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the age of 77. Gil is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Irene; son Glen (Brenda) Goetz and their children Julie and her sons Jacob and Stephen, Michael (Johanna), Deanna (Josh); daughters Sheila (Tony) Hasenfratz and their children Natasha (Pete), Nathan, Nolan (Lyndsay) and their daughters Brooke and Jada; Sandra (Greg) Gudbranson and their children Jered, Celina, and Jonathan; Noreen (Bill) Haysom and her children Curtis and Jaclynn (Cary). He is also survived by his siblings, in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. In Lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice. Gil was born on July 28, 1934 on the family farm near Kendal, SK. Growing up with seven sisters and two brothers must have been a trying time always having to share everything from the chores to the chairs around the kitchen table. After his schooling in Kendal, Gil moved to Regina and graduated from Campion College. In 1953, he met the love of his life, Irene Hassman, at a dance. After dating for 3 years he married her on July 21, 1956. Their first two children – Glen and Sheila were born in Regina Gil’s first job was working at SGIO where he found his passion for the insurance industry. He moved the family to Calgary and continued to work for various insurance companies. Sandra and Noreen were born there. After eight years in Calgary, Gil transferred back to Regina in 1969 and continued his career at The Co-operators until his retirement in 1990 at the young age of 56. Gil’s pride and joy were his children and 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Gil and Irene spent their summers at Sherwood Forest and after his retirement, they spent the winter months in Mesa, Arizona. Gil has touched many hearts and will be missed by all.
