Lorn Joseph Hamilton, late of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at the age of 85 years. He is predeceased by parents Alexander Hamilton and Alice Engelhart. Lorn is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Judith; sons Marshall (Michelle), Patrick (Jo-Ellen), Kelly (Robyn), Martin (Tina), Christopher (Jackie), Thomas (Carla), and daughter Korinne (Clive); along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lorn was born in Winnipeg and was raised by his mother after the early passing of his father. He attended Winnipeg’s St. Paul’s College before embarking on a 38 year career with Canadian National Railways in Regina, Winnipeg, Prince George, and Thunder Bay.
Lorn retired in 1991 to further pursue his many interests and life on the West coast. His greatest passion was music: singing, directing, composing and arranging with vocal harmony groups, barbershop quartets and choruses, and vocal ensembles. Lorn loved woodworking; building and creating with his hands – saunas, canoes, lamps, etc. He loved to cook and being creative in the kitchen. He was a talented youth and adult basketball player known to be a sure shot. He was an excellent swimmer and loved his time in and around pools or the ocean. Lorn was a voracious reader and life long learner who loved to have discussions with ‘keeners’ about a wide variety of topics. He loved observing nature and animals, especially his many dogs over the years. Lorn was most proud of his children and grandchildren’s many athletic, artistic, musical, and personal accomplishments. Lorn shared these many passions with his life-long love Judith. His quiet strength, quick wit, appreciation for music and nature’s beauty will be truly missed, but lives on in the lives of his large extended family. Donations in Lorn’s name may be made to the Regina Humane Society, SK-6 & Armour Road, Regina, SK S4P 3G7.
