Mae Popescu

Mae Popescu passed away peacefully on Friday, January 26, 2018 with her daughter Sharon by her side. She is now reunited with her husband, George; son Lionel; and grandson Ryan. She was also predeceased by her parents Dan and Kae Zaremba, brother Bill; and sister Betty Somerville and brother-in-law Lloyd Somerville. Mae was born and raised in the Ormiston area of Saskatchewan. She was a beautiful, strong, proud prairie woman. In 1950, she married George Popescu, and theirs was a love-story that spanned over six decades. For the next 43 years they farmed and raised family in the Kayville area until moving to Regina in 1993. Her greatest delight was her family and time spent with them. She adored her grandchildren and felt so blessed to have been granted the years to even welcome 12 great-grandchildren to the family. She took great pride in her home, garden, and beautiful flowers. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. A home full of friends, and family brought her great joy. She had a gift for making everyone feel loved and special. She was an inspiration to us all. Mae had many health issues over the past 40 years, but with determination and faith, she prevailed against all odds. Through all of the ups and downs, her daughter Sharon has been her greatest support and a beautiful example of love and care. She lived a life marked by gratitude and a positive attitude. We loved her and will miss her very much. Mae is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Lenny) Peterson; son Daniel (Karen); daughter in law Jan; her grandchildren Kristen (Jeff), Deanna (Jason), Chantelle (Steve), Amanda (Ian), Jared, Joel (Heather), Janelle (Logan) and Joanna (Braden); twelve great-grandchildren Mason McCallum, Meelah and Hendrix Jacobs, Ryley, Grayson and Tyren Huber, Kennedy and Alec Spock; Taylor, Jake and Ethan Janzen; Connor Giblett; her brother Steve (Helen), her sister-in-law Edith Zaremba; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We would like to thank the Palliative Care team on 3A for their kindness and care in her final days .
