Marlene Sparrow (nee Kessler) passed away peacefully on Friday, June 5, 2026, at the age of 85, following a short battle with kidney failure. Predeceased by her husband, Gord; father, Alexander; mother, Helen; brother, Lorne; sister, Evelyn; and stepdaughter, Shelley. Remembered by her daughters, Shawn (Blake) MacKay and Caroline Kruger; grandson, Morgan (Melissa) Allen; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and River Allen; special niece and nephew, Trish and Lorne Kessler, and their children, Alex and Claudia; sisters, Jan Dutchyshen and Elsie Karst; nieces and nephews, Tanya, Colin (Lisa), Randy (Carmen), Alison (Pat), Shane (Charlotte) and Jason.
Born and raised in Fife Lake, SK in 1940, Marlene moved to Regina in 1958, where she met her first husband, Alvin Kruger. They shared a love of square-dancing and camping. In 1994, Marlene met her husband, Gord Sparrow, and they married in 1996. They loved to dance, host family dinners, and they loved to play cards. They also took a number of trips to Texas, as well as Alaska.
After Gord’s passing, Marlene continued to travel and developed a passion for vacations on cruise ships. She also took trips to eastern Canada, Cuba, and Mexico. When she bought her iPad, she loved to keep in touch with friends and family on Facebook.
Marlene worked at the RQHR in the accounting office most of her career, until she retired at the age of 60.
Funeral Services will be held at New Hope Lutheran Church, 370 McIntosh St N, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at 11:00AM, with a tea to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Grace Hospice in Regina, or to a charity of your choice.
