1925 – 2011
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Surrounded by family, Mary passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2011 after a long and happy life. She was born in the Arbury district, North of Cupar, on September 4, 1925. Life during the Depression years was very difficult, so the family, comprised of Peter and Apollo Nagy and their children, moved to Regina, where she made her home for the remainder of her life. During her late teen years, she was an avid and successful softball player and was asked to play in a semi-professional women’s league in the United States. This love of baseball translated into being a long-time Toronto Blue Jays fan. Mary met the love of her life, Albert Molnar and they were married in 1945 and had 2 wonderful boys. Mary is predeceased by her mom and dad, her brother Bill and her husband of 44 years, Albert. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Mel and Dolores Molnar and Jim and Irma Molnar; her beautiful grandchildren, Dana, Jason, his wife Nancy and Andrea; and her great-grandchildren Caitlin, Jacob, Mackenzie, Zarena and Cache. She also leaves her brothers and sister-in-law Steve, Louis and Natalie Nagy. Mom had a keen eye for fine jewelry and would spend hours in the stores admiring and educating the store staff on the different gem stones, design and quality. She was also a fantastic cook; her cabbage rolls, perogies and potato soup are legendary. Mom, grandma, great-grandma, you will be greatly missed. Thank you so much for all the wonderful times we have spent together, it has meant so much to each one of us. We would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff in the Cardiac Surveillance Unit at the Pasqua Hospital for their loving and extraordinary care of her in her final days. Additionally, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Arbor Oaks Manor. Mom said on numerous occasions that she had never been so spoiled in all her life. Thank you for making her final months so special. A Celebration of Mary’s life will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at 12:00 pm at Blessed Sacrament RC Church – 2049 Scarth Street, Regina, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Arrangements under the direction of Lee Funeral Home and Crematorium, Regina, SK.
