Michael Todd Warder (Todd) left his loving family and friends suddenly on Sunday, September 22, 2019 at the age of 49. With so much charisma, such a big smile, and an even bigger heart, it’s hard to believe that Todd has left us all so soon.
Todd was a true Saskatchewan boy, born and bred. He lived his whole life in the province and wasn’t about to live anywhere else. From the time he was a kid, he loved spending time at the lake, loved the Riders, and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing and just spending time outdoors. Most of all he loved his family and friends. When Todd walked in a room, everything changed. He lit up the room with his smile and his laugh and captivated everyone with his presence that was larger than life. We knew we could all relax – Todd had it under control. He was a great storyteller, a genuine friend, and he just made everyone feel good. There was nothing better than seeing his big truck pull up in the driveway for a visit.
Todd was born in Saskatoon on October 24, 1969 with the mischievous twinkle in his eye we all know and love. He lived in Saskatoon for most of his childhood before moving to Regina as a teenager. In Regina, Todd attended Balfour Collegiate and then at the age of 21 had one of his proudest moments, becoming a loving father to his daughter Tawnee. Todd and Tawnee were inseparable, like two peas in a pod. She was his everything and everyone knew it.
Soon after Tawnee was born, Todd started his profession as a welder and joined his other family, Local 555 Boilermakers. Todd was so proud to be a Boilermaker. He was a great welder and loved not only his work but his union brothers and sisters that he worked among. Always a leader and truly wanting the best for those around him, he was teaching welding at the hall, and recently became the Union President. He was honored to hold this position.
Just two months ago, Todd became a grandfather to baby Haislee. Todd was on cloud nine about becoming a grandpa and had a chance to meet and spend time with her before his untimely passing. Little Haislee will no doubt hear funny stories about her grandpa for years to come.
Todd was predeceased by his beloved grandparents on both sides, Arthur and Magdalen Warder; and Ken and Pat Getz. He will be greatly missed by his mother Karyn Warder (Harry Gabel); father Keith (Cheryl) Warder; sister Kristen Warder (Nicole McCann); daughter Tawnee Mihalcea (Dustin Carson and son Keenan); granddaughter Haislee Carson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loved; as well as his other family, his Boilermaker brothers and sisters in Local 555 (Triple Nickel). We love you, Todd. We miss you already. A Celebration of Todd’s life will be held at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East in Regina, SK on Monday September 30, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers and to honour Todd’s love of animals, memorial donations may be made to the Regina Humane Society, Box 3143, Regina, SK, S4P 3G7, or to Bright Eyes Dog Rescue, Box 31088, Regina, SK, S4R 8R6.
