OBITUARY

Peter Alex Fuchs

22 July, 19363 April, 2021

It is with great sadness that Peter’s family announces his passing on April 3rd, 2021 at the age of 84. Peter is predeceased by Elsie, his wife of 42 years, parents Alex and Phillipina Fuchs, brother Conrad Fuchs, sister and brother-in-law Theresa and Tony Gartner, brother-in-law Alfred Schropp, brother-in-law Freddie Perepeluk, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Norman and Alma Minchuk, and his grandson Chance Frohlick. He leaves to mourn and is survived by his partner Phyllis Erickson, daughters Lorena (Shabir) Dewji, and Lee-Ann (Kirk) McCann, his grandchildren, Zachary, Raven (Travis), Caitlyn (Johni ), Cole, his great grandchildren, Linkin, Lyra, Eli and Kaysen. His sisters Rose Schropp and Fran (Carl) Walter, sister-in-law Francis Fuchs, sister-in-law Edna Perepeluk, and numerous nieces and nephews including his godchildren Millie Folk, Charlotte Kessler and Dave Gartner. At an early age he worked on the family farm near Dilke, eventually taking it over and expanding his operation. He was a successful farmer and a businessman. The Western Producer was his favourite publication and he read and researched many farming techniques. He had bumper crops and was particularly proud of his malting barley and specialty crops. He was meticulous at maintaining his equipment and had specialized knowledge and skills in creating and building. He commercially fished with his brother on Last Mountain Lake in the winter. His hard work ethic was passed on down to his daughters and nephews who he mentored on the farm. He was a devoted and loving husband and dad, and a man of great faith. He loved to sing and was a member of the Dilke St. Bonifice church choir most of his life. His smile was infectious and he loved talking to people with kindness and gentleness. He loved golfing, fishing and gardening which he shared with his children and grandchildren. His hobbies also included goose hunting and dancing. He loved fresh roasted goose and dance parties at Danceland in Watrous. He was very social and adventurous and greatly enjoyed his time down south every winter. He was very community minded and served as a town councillor, and a hall board member or wherever he could contribute to his community. Peter touched many lives with his caring and kindness and will be sadly missed by all. His funeral mass will be postponed and announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter’s name to the Dilke Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 52, Dilke, SK S0G 1C0.

Our thoughts are filled with memories of the loving care and companionship Peter gave Phyllis over the past five years. They really took care of each other. Whether it was making perogies at the church; dancing; or adding fun to our family celebrations - we will always smile when we think of his kindness, compassion, and loyalty to those he loved. Peter was a welcome addition to our family. We will miss him and thank him for the time he shared with us. - Phyllis Erickson’s Family
