1939-2026
We are saddened to announce the passing of Purita (Nanay) B. Iglesias. Nanay passed away at the Pasqua Hospital in Palliative Care Unit on Thursday, August 6th, at the age of 87.
Nanay was born in Tococ, Pangasinan. She met her beloved husband, Romeo B. Iglesias, with whom she shared 65 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they raised six children, instilling in them the values of hard work, resilience, and education.
In 1986, seeking better opportunities for her family, Nanay immigrated to Canada with her husband and children, where she embraced her new home. Nanay was a hardworking stay-at-home mom to her 6 kids. She had demonstrated the true meaning of unconditional love. She was always there for her family, never complained, and provided support and guidance. Nanay was an exceptional woman who never stressed over little things. She was always happy and positive. Thus, she had always looked good for her age.
Nanay enjoyed watching her favorite comedy shows such as King of Queens, Cheers, and Becker. She loved to go on walks, drives, and enjoyed coffee and lunch dates with her children. She looked forward to family gatherings and was always giving compliments to everyone. She loved to laugh and get her pictures taken. Afterwards, she would ask “May I see?” to check if the shots looked good.
Nanay leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, a strong faith in God, and deep family values that will forever remain in our hearts. She will be dearly missed.
Nanay Puring was predeceased by her husband, Romeo Iglesias, brother “Tio Emoy”, and her son, Gerry Iglesias. She is survived by her sister, “Tia Trining”, and her five kids; Helen, Elizabeth (Jun), Mariette (Kevin), Armie (Norm), and Robert (Kristin), 17 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren.
