Regina Meriba Haroun, a descendant of the Kakwa tribe, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 at 3:45 a.m. at Pasqua Hospital due to congestive heart failure and kidney failure. She was 74. Regina was born on January 1, 1947 in Yei, South Sudan. The family of Regina are deeply saddened to announce her passing. She survived by her two daughters, Fatima Haroun and Onorria Haroun; five sons, Bilal Haroun, Luciano Haroun, Martin Haroun, Gasim Haroun and Taban Haroun; eighteen grandchildren; and thirty-five great-grandchildren. Regina was an elder in the South Sudan Community, the Regina Equatoria Community, as well as being a Community Advisor. She enjoyed dancing, singing, and eating African foods. She was known for being a great joker, loved listening to gospel music, and watching African movies. Regina was known as a prayer warrior. She was deeply loved by all in the Sudanese community, and will be especially missed by her family. She made friends everywhere she went. Regina’s life was a living example of love and compassion to one another as in Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God forgave you in Christ.” Regina was a dedicated mother first and foremost, and as a grandmother. Also known as Haboba, she treasured her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Regina valued her role as Haboba. She knew that she was on her way to her heavenly home. Prepared for her death, she knew she wouldn’t see beyond 2021, so she called all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and asked them for forgiveness and blessed them before she took her last breath. Gone but never forgotten, you were the light of our lives. May your beautiful soul rest in perfect peace.
