Rodney George Obey

Rodney was a loving, carefree, and cheeky person who was also a good listener. He was always on hand to give advice and support to his family and friends. He was a proud single father and a pipe carrier.

Rodney was predeceased by his father Joe Obey; brothers Brian, Lionel, Conroy, and Ronald; and sisters Marilyn and Missy. He is survived by his sons Justin (Aerolynn) and Garrett; loving mother Cora Obey; siblings Lynny, Karen, Conrad, Brenda (Clifford), and Melanie; as well as his grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Rodney was raised by his grandparents. He was a gifted drummer and singer, who sang with Cree Travelers and Dakota Cree and often collaborated with his special aunt Buffy Sainte Marie.

He was loved and will be missed by many including his friends

Viewing will be held at Victoria Avenue Funeral Home, 2080 Victoria Avenue East, Regina, SK on Monday, March 9, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Traditional Wake will follow at Piapot First Nation on the same date at 4:00 p.m. Rodney’s Funeral Service will be held at Piapot First Nation on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. with Interment to follow in Piapot Cemetery.
