It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Sandra “Sandi” David Griffiths, who left this world peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on August 10, 2025.
Sandi was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan, and raised on a farm near the community of Pelly. She spent most of her adult life in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she built her home, career, and friendships, with a brief but memorable chapter living in Coquitlam, BC in the 90’s.
Sandi was passionate about gardening—especially her flowers and tomatoes. She loved crocheting, cheering for the Blue Jays and the Riders with her love, George. Prior to retirement, she proudly worked in the office at Wappel Construction. She loved her “Wappel boys” and told stories about working there for years after.
Fond of music and blessed with a love for singing, Gramma Sandi shared this joy with her children and grandchildren, teaching them countless songs and poems. One of her favourites was:
Life is like a journey, taken on a train,
With a pair of passengers at each windowpane.
If life should choose you, to sit by my side,
Let’s be pleasant passengers, for life’s so short a ride.
Above all else, Sandi’s greatest joy was her beloved George. Her perfect day was spent with him in their cozy home—watching the Jays, a good movie, or one of their favourite who-done-it crime stories—while crocheting in the comfort of their shared life together. George loved Sandi like no other and we are grateful that they found one another.
Sandi will be deeply missed by her beloved spouse, George Kolybaba, and his kids Tiffany and Justin; her own children, Patty Meier (Jaret) and Jeff Griffiths (Jill Bateman); and her four grandsons, Lucas Kennedy, Connor Kennedy (Ashlee), Zak Kennedy (Xiaoyue Victoria Zhang), and Ray Griffiths. She also leaves behind her brother, Kirby Johnson, along with many nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory.
She was predeceased by her parents, Dave Johnson and Emma Johnson; her siblings, Judith Brennan, Florence Smythe, and Phil Johnson; her niece Joy Brennan, and her beloved granddaughter, Alexandra Kennedy, who passed away at the age of five.
A celebration of life will be held to honour Sandi on Monday, August 18th at 10 AM at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Jim Pattison Children's Hospital, a cause Sandi faithfully supported every year.
