Stanley James Lindskog

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley James Lindskog at the age of 75. Stan passed away peacefully on August 13, 2026, in the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital in Regina, Saskatchewan.

Stan is survived by Sylvia, his wife of 54 years; sons Duane (Tammy), Darren (Andrea), and Devin (Christine); grandchildren Damion, Shantaira, Dallas, Dawson, Austin, and Sean; his mother, Dorothy Lindskog; sister Verna (Roman) Mitura; sisters-in-law Donna Lindskog and Penny (Gary) Favel; numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins; and their cat, Jack.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, Ivor and Sophie Lindskog and Arnold and Ethel King; his father, Sidney Lindskog; brother Steven; parents-in-law Bob and Phyllis Bell; sister-and brother-in-law Sandra (Karl) Hayden; and brother-in-law Bill Bell.

Stan was the first child born to Sidney and Dorothy Lindskog on July 29, 1951, at Radville Community Hospital. He grew up on the family farm four miles west of Maxim, Saskatchewan, surrounded by his grandparents, parents, aunts and uncles, numerous

cousins, and farm neighbours.

He began school in Colgate, Saskatchewan, in 1957. The trip from the farm was a 20-mile bus ride each way over gravel roads, and there was no such thing as a snow day. When winter roads became impassable for the school bus, Stan and the neighbouring children travelled to school in a large Bombardier snowmobile, often driven by his father.

When Colgate School closed, Stan continued his education at Radville Regional High School, graduating in 1970. He was active in basketball, baseball, and bowling. At home, he also did his share of farm work—seeding, harvesting, haying, tending cattle and other animals, and, of course, the ever “enjoyable” job of picking rocks. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, swimming, and snowmobiling.

After graduation, Stan moved to the “big city” of Regina for work, although he continued returning to the farm on weekends to help. One of his first employers was Signal Industries, where he worked on the production line manufacturing automobile licence plates.

It was there that Stan met the love of his life, Sylvia Bell. They were married in Regina on Saturday, June 3, 1972, and honeymooned at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Soon afterward, they bought their home in Regina, where they raised their three sons and remained throughout their married life.

Over the years, Stan worked for several employers, including The Hudson’s Bay Company, Picker, and the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, from which he retired.

For more than five decades, Stan was a devoted Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. He and Sylvia had premium front-row seats at centre field at Taylor Field, where they enthusiastically cheered on their beloved Green and White—and where Stan was never shy about offering a few choice words to members of the opposing team.

Stan and Sylvia also enjoyed their date nights at Casino Regina, usually involving a little gambling and a steak dinner.

Stan will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. Even throughout his illness in recent months, he remained positive about the life he had lived and grateful for his family and friends.

On July 29, more than 30 family members and friends gathered in a private room in the Palliative Care Unit to celebrate Stan’s 75th birthday. There were birthday cakes and ice-cream, party hats and balloons, and presents. From his hospital bed, Stan knew and spoke with everyone who came to celebrate with him.

The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses on 3D, in particular, Avva, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at Pasqua Hospital for the compassion, kindness, and loving care they provided to Stan.

A graveside service will take place on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Riverside Cemetery. A barbecue will follow at Stan and Sylvia’s house.
