Our Wendy was a truly talented artist, and she loved anything that was made by hand. Although she loved all crafts, her main focus was the fiber arts. Wendy was an avid knitter, crocheter and spinner. She had the incredible ability to create beauty with her own two hands. Wendy could craft articles of clothing far better than any machine, and she would not accept any flaws in her work. If she noticed a missed stitch or imperfection, she would take out all the stitches necessary to correct that flaw. Wendy was also gifted at the art of spinning, and she was taking the Master Spinner course in Olds, Alberta, although she was a Master long before.
Wendy loved her family tremendously. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Douglas for over thirty-six years and they had two children, Sarah and Jonathan, who will all miss her dearly. Wendy will also be missed by her father Alvin, as well her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. After thirty-four years of employment at the University of Regina, Wendy retired from the department of Library Acquisition in November of 2016. It was a job she loved and enjoyed working with her co-workers.
A Celebration of Wendy’s Life will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. At the request of the family, please wear an item that is handmade in memory of Wendy’s love for art and crafts.
