It is with great sadness, tempered by many fond memories that the family of, Yolanda Theresa Toth announce her passing on May 9th, 2021 at the age of 88. Yolanda (Lannie) was predeceased in 2011 by her beloved husband of 57 years, Elmer and 2 infant sons, Michael and David.
Mom’s memory will be cherished by her 4 children; Darrell (Nori), Cathy (Richard), Steven (Lucy) and Wayne (Maureen), her 8 grandchildren; Jeff (Sara), Josh (Danica), Stephanie (Quang), Christina (Ben), Matthew (Sandra), Mychal, Riley, and Logan (Kayla) and her 12 great grandchildren; Harriet, Rosie, Sadie, Meri, Marlow, Maude, Oliver, Elliot, Amelia, Samuel, James and Porter, as well as her sisters Marjorie and Loretta and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mom was born to Helen (Smerekovsky) and Joseph Toth in 1932. She was the 9th child of 10 children. Her early life and schooling took place in the Dysart area.
Mom enjoyed her various positions at James Richardsons, Wascana Country Club, The Bay and Sears, but her true happiness was her family life. She was a very talented woman and an excellent seamstress. She made many wonderful outfits over the years. No project was too difficult for her, including the intricate Hungarian dancing outfits, the bridesmaids’ dresses for Darrell & Nori’s wedding and the beautiful wedding dress she made for Cathy.
Mom was a marvelous cook, she prepared many delicious Hungarian style meals over the years. It brought her great happiness to share her recipes and methods with her children, grandchildren and even in later years with her great grandchildren. Her memory will live on each time her recipes are used and enjoyed.
Mom’s other enthusiasms were music and sports. She always enjoyed supporting and attending her children and grandchildren’s many sporting and musical activities. She played softball for many years and bowled and golfed for as long as her health allowed. She also sang in the church choir and enjoyed any and every opportunity for a sing along.
Mom will be greatly missed, she loved us all and we loved her; she will live on in our hearts and memories.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
