Joan Erman (Newman) Mitchell, 77, formerly of Reading, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Parkhouse Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Royersford. Born April 25, 1943 in Norristown, PA she was the cherished daughter to the late John Erman and Marion (King) Newman.
Joan was the loving wife of the late David Lee Mitchell, who passed on June 4, 2016. The couple married in Spring of 1958. They would have celebrated their 62 wedding anniversary this year.
In her younger years, Joan participated in several women's groups and was quite the social butterfly. She was an avid reader and had a unique love for books. Joan also loved music, singing and relished in making all types of arts and crafts.
Joan's spirit will be carried on by daughter Deborah Cimino and her husband Raymond, of Pottstown, PA; son John C. Mitchell and his wife Beverly Wagoner-Mitchell,of Ashburn, VA; son David Lee Mitchell Jr. and his wife Dr. Erin Fly-Mitchell, of Coopersburg, PA; and sister Jane Swartley and her husband Lloyd, of Lake Tahoe. Joan also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren to cherish her memory.
In addition to her parents and her beloved husband David, she was greeted in heaven by her brother Joseph Michael Newman.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the staff of Auman's Inc. Funeral Home, Reiffton. It has been an honor caring for Joan's loving family at this very difficult time.
