Artemio “Art” Calica Hipol, passed away on December 30, 2020 at the age of 75, of Natural Causes. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the countless doctor appointments related to his kidney transplant, Art came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.
Art was the second eldest of 5 children. Born and raised in the Philippines, and where Art met the love of his life, Nenita Echalas, in 1969. It was love at first sight, they married and moved to Maui, Hawaii in 1974. Subsequently in 1978, moving to and residing in Washington State, ever since. Together, they had one child: Michael.
Art was an exceptionally hardworking person devoted to taking care and providing for his family. This is the main reason why, Art tirelessly worked many long hours, most of his life. In addition, he had an Entrepreneurial spirit, founding his own business, contracting with local Seattle Hotels in 1994. Appropriately named the, M.A.N. (Michael, Art, Nenita) Company. Nenita supported the business efforts every step of the way.
Art enjoyed retirement in 2006 and loved spending time with his family. He was always looking forward to grandchildren. This dream was recently fulfilled, November 29th 2020 when his first grandchild was born.
Art’s celebration of life will be honored in a private service at Greenwood Memorial Park in Renton, Washington. He is survived by his wife Nenita Hipol, son Michael Scott Hipol and grandson Bryson Kendall Hipol.
