Billie J Moore was born on January 30, 1922, to William Andrew Moore and Ethel Bell Butler in Dill City, Oklahoma. He married Katie P. Moore on August 21, 1942. Together they had four children, Loretta, William, Katherine and Sheila. Known as BJ to all his family and friends, he lived through many of the most difficult parts of our country's history. He experienced firsthand the effects of the Dust Bowl, the Great Depression and World War II. Each of these events left him profoundly changed.
Perhaps most of all, his time on the front lines in World War II had the deepest impact. As part of the 8th Infantry Division, he fought in the Battle of Brest, the Battle of the Bulge and liberated the concentration camp, Wobbelin. Through it all, he credited the Lord for bringing him home safely. His Mother was a true pray warrior. It was through her faith in God and his persistence to listen to a radio preacher everyday after work that his wife Katie came to know the Lord and hence their future generations.
BJ was a true man's man. He worked with his hands and knew how to fix just about anything. In his younger years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. As he grew older, he greatly enjoyed tending a thriving vegetable garden.
