Christa was born in Berlin Germany on May 10, 1935. As a little girl she was, as with most children, ready for a life of friends, school, and eventual adulthood. Her aspirations were quickly swept aside with WWII. Some of her stories of the ‘war’ are horrific to say the least. The most memorable being the utter destruction of everyone and everything. After the war, she would eventually end up leaving (escaping) a war-torn country now under communist control. Her path would take her to Canada, where she would meet up with her future husband (Hans Lemberg). Hans was also German with similar experiences.
There life would begin together in Vancouver, Canada. They married and started this new journey. Hans worked for an oil company and Christa oversaw the household. She would cook, clean, and provide a solid foundation in which they could comfortably live. Eventually they decided to move to the States. There were two choices at the time. Seattle or Los Angeles. They choose Seattle. Once moved to Seattle they turned their attention to building a new live in the US. With their eyes set on a rural community east of Renton. They ended up building their ‘forever home’ in the Briarwood area in 1965. During this same time, a new person came into their lives with the birth of their first and only child, Gordon Lemberg.
As time goes, Christa eventually started to work for the Issaquah School District in the lunch program. As a ‘lunch lady’, or so the term goes, she would bake and cook for the kids at Maple Hills Elementary. She also had another full-time position as a home maker. Her diligent cleaning skills…meaning she kept the place clean…would culminate with a Saturday ‘deep cleaning’ each week! Along with this, she kept an active role in the neighborhood with a tight knit group of folks with similar aspirations. She found joy in reading, gardening, loving her pets, and traveling. Hans and Christa would find real happiness and security with a home, friends, and family for nearly 60 years of wonderful marriage.
Her long-time husband (Hans) passed in 2018 at which time she slowly transitioned out of large home to a more manageable assisted living facility at the Lakeshore Retirement Community in Seattle. With a beautiful view of Lake Washington and the Cascade foothills she continued to thrive. At the age of 88 her health began to decline. Congestive heart failure would ultimately be the diagnosis. However, she continued to push on. As time neared the end, she would receive great support from friends and family, but boy, she could still do a lot! On July 31, 2024, she passed peacefully with her son at her side. She is survived by her son, Gordon (Cynthia) Lemberg; grandchildren JennaLee Pasa, Kenneth McLean, and Luke Lemberg.
