

Curt was born April 11, 1930 to Leonard and Cora Mecham in Edinburg, North Dakota, the oldest of six children. He grew up in Edinburg where he was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Lutheran Church. He attended elementary and high school in Edinburg and graduated in 1948.
He served four years as a cryptographer in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. While he was serving in the military, Curt’s parents and siblings moved to Burien, WA where he joined them after his discharge in 1955. Curt then began his career at Boeing Airplane Company where he was employed in the Quality Assurance Division.
Curt was united in marriage to Phyllis Stonebridge in 1957 at Glendale Lutheran Church and they lived in Burien. Curt and Phyllis had one daughter, Sandra, married to Philip Tarli. He has two grandchildren, Michael (Dawn) and Melissa (Andy) and two great grandchildren, Porter and Henry. Curt and Phyllis loved their family. In 1979 Curt and Phyllis moved to Renton, WA. They transferred their church membership to Lord of Life Lutheran Church. Phyllis passed away in November 1991. They were happily married for 34 years.
In 1992 Curt retired from the Boeing Company after 37 years of service. In 1993 Curt met his dear friend, Mary Thomas, and started a new life as they shared similar interests in their retirement years. They purchased a home and moved to Auburn, WA. They transferred their membership to Messiah Lutheran Church. They enjoyed spending time with family, bowling, gardening, travel tours and cruises. They enjoyed going to Reno and Laughlin, NV for short get-aways. Mary passed away in 2013.
Curt is a member of Messiah Luther Church, the White Center Eagles and the American Legion Post of Auburn. Curt has four brothers, Elwood (deceased), Bill (Anna), Richard, Merlyn, and a sister, Gloria Blaine (Terry).
