Dave is survived by his wife, Colleen Wheatley Clukey and children, Jennifer Clukey (spouse Mike Elliott), Joe Clukey (spouse Mary Grace Eala), and Brent Olson (spouse Kristen Berkner Olson). His fourth son, Timothy Clukey, succumbed to cancer and preceded him in 2019 (fiancé and honorary daughter in law, Erin Courtmanch) . Dave is also survived by his brothers, Glenn Clukey (spouse Debbie Clukey) and Alan Davidson (spouse Nancy Davidson); and grandchildren: Ethan Clukey, Ashlyne Olson, Reese Olson, Jakoby Clukey, and Madsen Clukey.
Dave was born in Richland, Wa; lived his adolescent and teen years in California and after high school moved to attend Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. After two years of college he joined up with the U.S. Army and spent 18 months in Vietnam as an infantry combat soldier followed by Germany in the military band playing the saxophone.
He returned to college after an honorary discharge from the service and graduated with a degree in Economics. His first post college job was with Washington Mutual Bank where he began as a teller and worked his way up to Assistant Manager of the Spokane Branch. He left Washington Mutual to take a position in the Heating and Air Conditioning wholesale industry ending up at Thermal Supply Inc. He worked with Thermal for 35 years and retired at 65.
Dave lived life his way. He enjoyed his family, traveling, helping other people and just being at home. He was very handy and rebuilt a house or two. He was the guy the neighbors called to get advice on a broken pipe or how to re-set a thermostat or how to repair a car. He had a sweet tooth, liked to bake occasionally and, in the 80’s, broke all the stereotypical barriers of the time by working in team with Colleen to make meals, do laundry, and any other household thing. Dave and Colleen were partners in every way. He and Colleen were married 40 years and enjoyed one final cruise to the Caribbean to celebrate in May.
Dave will be truly missed by those who loved him.
