Northern Minnesota. He grew up in a family with
many children, but the most meaningful time of his
youth was spent with his brother when they lived
with their grandfather.
Doran enlisted in the US Army in 1944. He was
awarded a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. Doran
met Nobuko (Sandy) while he was stationed in
Japan. They married in 1952. In 1954, he had an
honorable discharge from the US Army.
As a couple, they shared a love of traveling and saw
much of the world. They both enjoyed traveling on
cruise ships. While home, they adored their
beloved dogs.
Doran worked for Boeing for 32 years. He liked
routine and worked with much discipline. Doran
worked harder than he ever played and almost
everything he did was for the benefit of his wife
and daughters.
Doran was very involved in the Masons and the
Nile Shrine and held numerous offices. He enjoyed
fishing and looked forward to many salmon fishing
trips. Doran started downhill skiing at age 43
when his daughters learned to ski, and he
absolutely loved it. When Doran first retired, he
started walking for fitness and walked 5 miles 4
times a day to fill his time.
Survivors include his wife of nearly 65 years,
Nobuko, and his daughters, Donna (Andy), Doreen
(Richard), and Darline (Duane); grandchildren
Danielle (Daniel), Dayna (Tyler), Bryan (Jecelin),
Jennifer, Chad (Cindi), and Amy (Adam); greatgrandchildren
Quinn, Will, Madison, Ashley, and
Austin.
Our family is sincerely thankful for the thoughts,
prayers, and love shared with us during
