Dorothy was born November 17, 1933 in Elmo, Missouri (pop. 258) to James Franklin Winstead and Rosalie Winstead (Hickman). The family moved to Seattle where Dorothy attended grade school and graduated from Grover Cleveland High School.
When she first cast her eyes on Elmer Roy at a boarding house, his friends had just pushed his chair over. There he was, still in the chair with his back on the floor. They married on July 14, 1956.
She enjoyed sewing and managed a fabric store. She retired from Boeing.
She also enjoyed playing cards, dice and board games with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She loved music and would regularly sing to her children. She loved making quilts. And like her husband, she cherished being surrounded by family for any occasion.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elmer Roy, her five children and their spouses, Michelle and Jim Swaim, Catherine and William Dugovich, Michael and Mi Hui Roy, Jeffrey Roy and Catherine Dunne, Jerome and Laura Roy, and 12 grandchildren and her sister, Janie Joann “Jo”.
She was preceded in death by her two brothers, Larry Winstead and Gary Winstead, and her sister, Marilea Pearson.
A graveside service will be held Saturday June 15th at 11:00.
