Eddie was born on September 6, 1941 to Claude Lee Keaton and Delores Delgado Keaton in Westmoreland, California.
Eddie grew up in a small farming community in the Imperial Valley, where he helped his father run a trucking company. Eddie started driving big rigs by the age of 12.
At 6’7”, it is no surprise that Eddie received a basketball scholarship out of high school and was a member of the Cal Poly Pomona California basketball team.
When Eddie’s father passed away, his mother and siblings moved to the Pacific Northwest. While visiting his sisters in Seattle one year, he fell in love with the area and in 1980 Eddie decided to make Seattle his permanent residence.
Eddie obtained a bachelor of arts from the University of Washington and a masters of business administration from City University. Eddie worked at Intermec Technologies for 22 years, where at one point he was their Mid West District Manager.
After retiring from Intermec at age 60, Eddie decided he was too young to stop working, so he embarked on a whole new career at Metro. Eddie chose Metro to serve the public, and was an inspiration to the other operators. Eddie earned a 10-year safe driving award at Metro, and was also Driver of the Month, not just one, but twice.
Eddie was passionate about jazz music; his favorite musician was Miles Davis. He also loved reading books and studying world history. Eddie is survived by one brother, Otis Keaton, and three sisters, Genevieve Haas, Rufina Keaton and Kathy Keaton.
We all miss you very much Eddie.
