I vividly remember how grandpa LOVED to always hand out those melon candies you could get from the Asian Markets. Grandpa always looked out for the family and was never upset about anything; he was the one person you can rely on to keep you on your feet and always reminding you that taking care of yourself was of top priority. While giving out/handing out the candies, he always had a big, gigantic smile on his face, to let you know how friendly he was and the candy as he didn’t speak much and didn’t speak English well, it was his way of saying you’re always welcome. Grandpa was the person who didn’t let the language barriers get in his way of nice acts, even in the states where his language itself wasn’t up to par. Even after a while, when I had friends over, he would ask me if my friend would want some candy or water and made sure I asked. Always caring and looking after people, even when some don’t know the people, he has captured the hearts of many through all the kind acts he has done throughout the years.

My beloved Grandpa, you’ve been a wonderful family member in my life, even though I don’t get to spend a lot of time with you growing up, I still remember the times where you came back to visit us, you’d showered us with love and affection, you’d hold my hand when taking me out, every time you’re leaving the airport we always hug it out. For this last 5 years, thank you for letting me have the opportunity to spend more time with you, I enjoyed having meals with you, playing card games with you, tucking you into bed, having small talks with you, even just a simple “Hello” will forever be a precious memory of mine, I’ll never forget you, if I were to given the chance again, I’d still choose to spend the time we got together. Thank you for being a wonderful Grandpa, I get to be here because of you, i am forever grateful, please rest in peace Grandpa, you’ll always be within my heart!

As I grew up and spent only little time with you, I know that we don’t have much bonding like others do. Memories with you were created and the bond was stronger when I actually moved and lived with you 5 years ago. I’m grateful that I’m your favorite grandchild of all. If possible, I wish you and I can be family again in the next life so I can be your favorite grandchild again. You were worried about me and wanted to make sure I could take good care of myself from now on even in your last moment. Taking the first step without you is hard, but I know you'd be proud that I did it. Your memory lives forever in my heart as I continue on the path life set waiting for me. I love and miss you grandpa
