Son to John Lawrence and Myrtie Mae Morrison, Jack Hershel Morrison was born in 1937 on Thanksgiving Day (November 25th) in Tracy, California. He was the ninth, of ten children, and the only son that lived. His siblings were Burl, Eugene, Marie, Bonnie, Lawrence, Bobby and Billy (twins), Ruth, and Jimmy John.
At the age of 6, Jack, his parents and His sister Ruth moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico where he grew up. At 13, Jack had a setback and broke his back while tumbling in PE class. This ended him up in a body cast for a couple of months. Despite the injury, Jack never had any real pain in his back.
Being a son to a railway worker, Jack and his family moved regularly. Because of this, it made for some colorful scenery along the way. Jack and family moved to such places as Tucumcari NM, DeLeon TX, El Paso TX, Amarillo TX, Waxahachie TX, Palmer TX, etc. With so much time in Texas, it was no wonder Jack jokingly loved the song “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.”
Jack and family continued to live in the Tucumcari area until his parents divorced in 1952. From there, he moved to El Paso with his father for a time, then back in with his mom in Tucumcari.
In 1953, Jack received his personal call into ministry by the Lord. He remembered this vividly as it was while he was praying in the chapel on a Wednesday night. He had a spiritual mentor that took him under his wing during this time as well. And in 1954, he was water baptized in a creek in Tucumcari.
In 1955, Jack completed High School and started into work at a Plastic Manufacturing Company. As the years progressed, Jack has had various factory and manufacturing jobs working with leather, wood, metal, and cork. His most recent work experience was in the security business.
In 1968, Jack and his wife moved to Seattle where he has stayed ever since.
In 1977, Jack obtained his ordination into the ministry. He also went on his first missionary trip to India.
In 1998, Jack founded Caleb Ministries proclaiming Numbers 13:30. It all came from Joshua and Caleb spying out the land and saying that … we are well able to overcome.
In 1998, Went on his first mission trip to Mexico followed by a longer-term mission trip to India in 1999.
Jack was married twice. To Willa (1958-1977) and to Joyce (1986-2012). Through the years, he had 6 children, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Jack was called friend, husband, father, grandfather, papa, mentor, leader, elder, and a man of God. Please take this time to rejoice in the many things was to our lives.
