

James Walter Nelson passed away in his sleep June 26, 2014 in Kirkland, WA. James Walter Nelson born McCloud, Oklahoma August 22, 1931. He served in the Army and Air Force from 1946-1950, which brought him to Spokane, WA. He was to married Linda Ruff from 1951 to 1961 and had four children Judy Bell, Janice Schmidt, Jeanette Betton and James A. Nelson. He moved to Renton, WA and was married to Verlores 'Vicki' Miles from 1962-2007 when she passed and they had one child Shawna Lauria. James was survived by his sister, Hazel, 5 children, 19 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and many extended family and friends.
James Nelson lived in the foothills of Mt. Rainier in an area known as 'Camp One' for the past 35 years. He loved watching the Mariners play baseball, fishing, playing cards, gardening and being in nature. He loved his family and friends and would do all he could for everyone he cared about. He worked for many companies and had many professions, including Boeing, security, phone systems, construction, etc.
Predeceased by his mother Amanda Agnes Lovett-Lewis and father Abner Lewis, and his sisters Jean, Opal, and Linda.
His funeral services are being held at Greenwood Memorial 350 Monroe Ave. NE, Renton, Wa at 1pm July 2, 2014. His final resting place will be next to Verlores 'Vicki' Nelson in the Greenwood Cemetery.
