Jose (Joe) D. Navarro, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at his home in Renton, Washington. He was born in Ilocus Sur, Philippines, and lived a long and full life.
Joe worked for the United States Air Force Civilian Service in Saipan, Guadalcanal and Guam as a bus driver then as the head life guard and instructor at Andersen Air Force Base. There he taught freediving for military combat missions. After leaving the Civil Service, he later moved to Salinas California, then settled down in Seattle, Washington. He owned and operated a landscape business that kept him physically fit and strong until he retired in the 1990’s.
Joe was intellectually curious, reading newspapers and watching the news, especially topics regarding national politics and current events. He volunteered at Valley Medical Center and was an avid ballroom dancer. Joe’s “easy-go-lucky” personality, sense of humor, selflessness and charming smile will truly be missed by his friends and family. Joe is survived by his loving wife for 47 years, two sons, daughter-in-law, four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
