Galyn  I am so saddened to read that your Aunt Lottie has passed.  I know how important she was to you, your mom and family.  It is always hard to lose a precious love one.  Lottie was so blessed to have lived life for 90 years.  God was good to her, and now she has gone home to heaven. 
 
I wish I could attend her service, but we have a weekend wedding to attend in Cle Elum.  Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers now and always.

6% of separation is very true. My middle name is Lee and my Grandmothers sister married a Calhoun. Mom has Calhoun cousins. It would be interesting to see if they came from the same family tree.

I did not ever meet your Aunt Lottie, but I often heard you mention her, and know she was important in your life. I am surely sorry that she has passed on, and I know that you will miss her, as will your mom and your daughter.

My dear Aunt Lottie,

I visualize you smiling down upon us, embraced in the arms of our heavenly family.

Over ninety years ago God touched mother and father Bain, and gave us your beautiful, strong, and determined spirit to love, hold, and remember.

We are left with the photos and video memories of your life, and the lives of our departed family. Our moments in time when we experienced your total embrace.

We are left with the echo of that love and life you wrapped us in while living. Our hearts are sad you are gone, but smiling large for all that you left us. You will not be forgotten and you are not alone.

When I think of you visualize laughter. Our laughter, and laughter, and laughter. Our unique way of endless banter like none other.

I think about your honesty. Like the time I said I really wished I had lived closer to you guys. Your immediate response was If so, we might not be good friends. Then the laughter and banter began again with fun and love.

So I will miss you by dear friend. I will have no other to perform our unique heart smiling miracle.

You did not depart us. You found a new home. The spirit of Maw-maw and paw-paw and our family are embracing you, even as you and Mary Ruth are skipping around in a field like two little school girls. Laughing and playing as she guides you through Gods creation. She is so glad you are there.

I came into this world as your niece. When you came to Washington to live with us, it was like having the big sister I never had.

Thru the years, as I got older, you were always there for me. When my Dad died, you and Fred picked me up from college and we discussed the future for Mom and I on the long ride home. When we worked together at Hostess Cake for 8 years we became good friends. We shared a lot on the rides to and from together. Over the years visiting you and the family, the phone calls, it was like usual you were always there for me. 

I will miss you and the empty spot in my heart now will be replaced with all the wonderful and sometimes crazy memories. 

Blessings on your journey. Know that I will always love you and honor your memory.

Anna says -
It was several years after Kelly and I married that I actually met Aunt Lottie, but she had a special place in my life before he and I married!  She wrote the sweetest letter to me prior to our wedding.  In it she explained how she would be unable to come to our wedding and why. After 58 years I still have that letter and told her once again how much it meant to me a couple of years ago when we were out here.  I thought that she had to be very special to have taken the time to write me at that time.  We have enjoyed having her in our home in Monticello, Arkansas and showing her around the town where I grew up

She visited Lucy, Kelly's Mom, several times in Monticello and they had great visits together!  She was with us in the hospital room when Kelly's Mom left us and she was such a special comfort to her oldest sister, by her side, holding her hand, and loving her!  She brought much joy to Lucy in her last moments.

Kelly says-  
Aunt Lottie was there when I needed family by my side!  She came to be with us when Mother was in her last days.  It meant so much to Mother and she was great help encouraging Mother to eat and Mother responded to her in a very positive way.  I have continued to enjoy special phone calls to her and sharing family stories.  It has meant so much to Anna and I to be able to make trips to Renton to be with family.  When we came for several days last October, it was very special for us to be able to take her to Leavenworth to visit.  It was the first time in a few years since she had been over there.  

Being here for her 90th birthday was wonderfull!  She glowed with happiness!  Some guests were special surprises.  It was a joyous occasion!  She was showered with flowers and love.

On Saturday night before her party the next afternoon, she was surrounded by 8 family members as we ate together, laughed together and told funny stories about family!

She was a blessing to many!

MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE read from Pastor Jim Amandus at Funeral on August 29, 2015. The writing below was written by Jeanie and Noni. Pastor Amandus added a little from what he had when he facilitated Lottie husband Fred funeral which was on February 6, 2004. Fred passed in January 2004.

Lottie was the sixth of ten children which all grew up in Pine Bluff Arkansas. They lived in a small community called Hardin where her Grandfather Bain homesteaded in 1800's. Acreage was given to the sibling as they were married. Noni and Jeanie earliest memories of Lottie was working at Ben Person factory making bow and arrow in Pine Bluff Arkansas. One of the past times for the kids were shooting bow and arrows in the open fields at home. 

Lottie was laid off and came to Cashmere Washington to live with an older sister and to find work in 1946. She found work as a packer in one of the many apple sheds in Cashmere. Lottie came home several times on the train to visit family. They remember her dressed in a fancy gray suit with matching hat with black feathers. She was a beautiful lady stepping off the train and was always happy to see family and friends. 

While in Cashmere she met her husband Fred at a roller skating rink. Lottie enjoyed roller skating It just so happened that Fred and Winnie really enjoyed roller skating. Lottie saw this fine twenty year old fella with his girlfriend. Eventually Lottie found the right opportunity to ask Fred who the girl was who came with him to rollerskate. Of course, he explained she was his SISTER! AND Lottie felt very VERY hopeful. 

Not to be disappointedLottie was working in the farms in the fruit packing sheds A trip or two back to Arkansas came to an end when Lottie became engaged to Fred The good fortune found in 1948 was surpassed two years later, when Fred and Lottie were marriedJune 5, 1950 in Cashmere. 

Lottie and Fred lived in a house on the golf course as the grounds keepers. Then in the early 50's the young couple came to Seattle to live with Lottie's brother and wife on Beacon Hill until they could find employment. They then became employees of Sunny Jim. They wanted to buy a house so Lottie put her application in one day and the next day was hired by Hostess bakery as a wrapper of Cupcakes, Twinkies, Suzie Q's, Sno Balls, Fruit Pies and some Ding Dongs. She retired after 32 years with the company.

Lottie and Fred loved to travel in the motorhome and fifth wheel. Early in their travel years they traveled with some dear friends and family. In their retired life they were able to spend a few years traveling with other family members. Some of their adventures included trips to Canada, Eastern Washington, Cannon Beach Oregon, and Yellowstone. They went to Hawaii to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Lottie also went with family on cruises to Alaska, around Canada, and the Panama Canal. They had a vacation home in Plain in Eastern Washington where they spent many holidays and summers. Many times several of us visited with our RVs for family and friend get together and reunions. 

Lottie lived in Renton since 1960. In her later years she attended Highlands Community Church and participated with the Friendship Connection and 60 Plus group. She was also very involved with the Renton Senior Center. Some of her activities included bean bag baseball which she truly enjoyed. One of her favorite past times was watching our Seattle Mariners.

One thing we will all remember about Lottie is she was very outgoing with family and friends. She will truly be missed by all of us.

Lottie was a delightful, spunky and feisty lady.  She was always dressed to the nines, she said it like it was, and she loved deeply.  You did not have to be close, for her to accept you as a precious friend.  I am so thrilled that she is now in the presence of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.  May her legacy grow 100 fold.

Lottie would always make me laugh. She and mom Johnson were close friends and they acted like teenagers.I feel that the four of you friends are together and again. Thanks for being part of the Johnson family.

Oh, dear Lottie, you will be MISSED! However, I can't help but smile and rejoice, knowing you fulfilled your 'bucket list' wish of living until your 90th birthday.  What a beautiful photo of you taken at that last birthday party!!  I loved our visits and the close friendship you shared with my Mom. We know you are now in heaven with your Lord and Savior and with so many loved ones; no more pain and suffering. What a celebration that must have been when Jesus welcomed you 'home'! May God continue to bless all your loved ones who will miss you; may each find Peace and Joy through Jesus Christ. Love you Lottie.

I always enjoyed seeing Lottie when she came to our Boeing girls get-togethers at Galyns home. She was easy to visit with. She will be missed.

Lottie always told me how it was.  She never hemmed or hawed.  Lottie was my favorite Aunt (in law) because she was so welcoming yet very honest.  When I started dating her nephew she let me know early on that "dating is nice but you're nothing until you're married".  It took us nine years but her nephew is now my husband.  I love that woman.  She was a spark at EVERY family get together.  Lottie told me she loved me and was so happy I was part of the family and that was the utmost praise.  I'll miss you Lottie.  You're quite a woman.
