Born Patsy Ann, 3/18/1945, in Butte, Montana at a surprising weight of 8 pounds – 12 ounces, remarkable for such a petite lady, to a coal miner and a mom she was told had died before she was one. Early in her childhood, Pat was in foster care, and based on her recollection, she thought it was a “very good one. We lived in a very big house. Saturday was piano lesson day which I really liked because my piano teacher had a cocker spaniel named Patsy! Saturday was time to kill chickens for Sunday dinner...We thought this was great fun and Sunday we went to church."
She talked of station wagon rides to the hot springs, bottles of Pepsi, games of “kick the can” and “red rover”. Camping trips, fishing and the merry-go-round at Columbia Gardens. Lots of snow in the winters and ice skating, which she loved. At age 8, her dad returned to collect her, and in her words “life with dad was a mere existence.” As she recalls, sometime about age 13 she moved in with her brother and sister-in-law, and soon moved to Renton, Washington, where she babysat for extra money, had a rabbit named Zipper, went camping and boating and attended the 62 World’s Fair.
Pat went on to marry 3 times, have 4 babies and raise 4 additional children, and was an amazing GG to a dozen. These years were filled with ups and downs, loss of her sweet baby, sacrifice, working and retiring from Boeing, and traveling whenever she could. She loved golf, bowling, quilting, dancing, games and social events of any kind. Pat’s greatest love was Dick and her life story, which she put on paper, ends this way:
"I am so fortunate, I have a beautiful family, a very loving husband. I am the happiest I have ever been and love you all so very much. Your loving mother, grandmother and wife," Pat.
