Tin immigrated to the United States as a refugee during the Vietnam War and, after traveling the States, he eventually settled in Seattle, Washington. Tin opened a grocery store named Dong Nam A (also known as Asian Connection) in 1982. He then married Minh Nhi Nguy in 1984, and they had four children together. With Minh by his side, day and night, they worked tirelessly to establish a successful grocery store in the heart of Chinatown.
As the business grew, they decided to expand and opened Hau Hau Market in 1994. Tin was an extremely hard worker, and his life revolved around his successful grocery business. He worked long days and managed the store for almost 40 years before he finally retired in Bellevue, WA. Hau Hau Market remains open and managed by three of their four children.
