
Dr. Robert A. Heurich, age 80 of Rhinelander, died on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at St Mary’s Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Chicago, IL on September 25, 1930, the son of Ernest and Grace (Kelm) Heurich. Robert graduated from Rhinelander High School and continued his education at the Pacific University School of Optometry graduating in 1955. He married the former Joan Marcy on November 25, 1954 in Forest Grove, Oregon. Robert served in the U.S. Army from 1955 – 1957 and was honorably discharged. After service they moved back to Rhinelander and he joined his father in Heurich Optometry. Bob retired October 1, 1995, he was past master of the Masonic Blue Lodge and Demolay, he was a member of the Wisconsin & American Optometric Association and was on the board of directors for Wisconsin. Bob was a very active member of the 1st United Methodist Church and served on many boards and he was also active in boy scouting, he served on the Camp Tasomas Council. Bob was also a very active member of Camp 10 and its ski patrol and the Rhinelander Swim Club.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joan; his son Bruce ( Donita) Heurich of Niwot, CO; his daughter Barbara (Jeffrey) Skochil of Eagan, MN; his sister Nancy (John) Miazga of Rhinelander; four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Rebecca Niece officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the church. A memorial has been established in Bob’s name and can be given to the family.
