.Teresa Marie Hagen, age 51 of Rhinelander, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2011, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her family and friends. Teresa was born on August 6, 1959 the daughter of Vern and Catherine Hagen. After her Mother’s death in 1986, Teresa joined the family of her sister, Pat, where she lived until the time of her death. Teresa attended school in Rhinelander and continued her training at Headwaters, Inc., where she worked until June of this year. At Headwaters, Teresa had several jobs over the years and participated in many programs. She even went to Disney Land. The staff and her fellow clients were her second family and she loved them dearly. Teresa was an active participant in Special Olympics, where she won many metals, ribbons and trophies. She excelled in track and bowling. She especially enjoyed the Summer Games at Stevens Point, where she competed, socialized and danced the night away with friends. Teresa loved music; she danced and sang at every opportunity. She also enjoyed her birthday, which was always coming and babies. Teresa gently cuddled, fed and rocked each new niece, nephew and friend as they came along. As Teresa’s health declined, these babies, now grown, have lovingly cared for her.
Teresa is survived by her sisters and brothers, Mary(Robert)Ohlsson of Boulder Junction, Jean Sneller, Thomas Hagen, Charles Hagen, Pat(Roger)Kuczmarski all of Rhinelander, Ruth(Mike) Oettinger of Eagle River, Catherine Hagen of Rhinelander and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine and Vern, and a brother, Peter.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Nativity of Our Lord (St Mary’s Site) at 10:00 A.M. with Father John Gerritts Officiating. Interment will follow in St Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of mass at the church.
