Cynthia graduated from Big Spring High School where she was a majorette in the band. She also attended Howard County Junior College.
She was married to the love of her life, Durward Earl Rutledge on June 11, 1966. Cynthia was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson, Texas.
Cynthia had a passion for taking care of babies- as the Rutledge family fostered 148 children with the Methodist Mission Home.
She is survived by her husband Durward, of over 55 years, her son Jeffrey Wayne Rutledge of Mckinney, Texas, and her daughter Jana (Shane) Rea of Round Rock, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jordan, of McKinney, Texas, and Kyle, Cory & Cameron of Round Rock, Texas. She is survived also by her brother Wayne Vaughn Jr. (Melanie) of Plano, Texas, and sister Julia Jo Watkins of Austin, Texas. She was predeceased by her parents Wayne Vaughn Sr. and Emma Jo Vaughn of Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
Her celebration of life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Friday, April 29, 2022, at First United Methodist Church, 503 S. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas 75080. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the church.
