

Ned was born on September 6, 1918 in Shamokin, Pennsylvania, a son of Charles Donald and Iva (Crone) Startzel.
He married Frances Hubbard on December 24, 1945. She preceded him in death on July 3, 1965.
He later married Mary Elsie Scheske in the summer of 1968.
Ned is survived by his wife Elsie Startzel of Dallas, Texas, two daughters: Susan (Joe Pat) Hennen of Denton, Texas, and Elizabeth (Doug) Brown of Edom, Texas, and stepdaughters Karla Greer of San Antonio and Allison Seils of Parker, Colorado.
He is also survived by two granddaughters, Frances and Whitney, and two great granddaughters, Corina and Clementine.
A private graveside service will be held at Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
Sparkman Richardson Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Monday, September 11, 2017 at 11:15 AM at the King of Glory Lutheran Church located at 6411 LBJ Freeway, Dallas, TX 75240.
Ned served his country in the United States Air Force and attended King of Glory Lutheran Church in Dallas. He was a proud Penn State Nittany Lion alumni.
He retired at age 55 from Moore Business Forms.
Ned was a resident of Brookdale Preston, member of Rotary Club downtown Dallas, Rotary Chorus, founder of Dallas Senior Follies which he still preformed in, oldest delivery volunteer in Dallas Meals on Wheels, and extensive mentoring programs.
Ned's love of music drove his life, and also his passion for volunteerism and giving back to his community.
