

Sue was born on July 7, 1923, in Fort Worth, Texas, and grew up in Lubbock, Texas, completing high school and attending Texas Tech University. She met and married Army Air corpsman Eliel “Arch” Archilla in 1943. During the war she worked with the USO. After moving to Fort Worth, and later to Dallas, Sue’s primary occupation and joy in life was as an accomplished homemaker and mother of four. Later in life she worked many years at the Dallas Market Center, then owned her own successful wholesale business “Accessories by Sue.”
Sue was a faithful member of Rosen Heights Baptist Church, Fort Worth, and Northlake Baptist Church, Lake Highlands, Dallas. She loved people, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was a model hostess. An accomplished seamstress, she also excelled in floral arranging, home decorating, painting, and ceramics.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Lt. Col. Eliel “Arch” Archilla; parents Newton and Josephine Jackson; sisters Joy Foote and Betty Jo Fregia; grandson Mark Lawson; and a host of other beloved family members. Left to cherish her memory is her sister Sandra Simpson and husband Buddy; son Elliot Archilla and wife Judy; daughters Linda Smith and husband Jim; Melissa Lawson; Lisa Sims; five grandchildren, Evan Archilla and wife M’Emily; Amanda Bischoff and husband Vann; Erik Archilla and wife Didi; Casey Smith and wife Amanda; Cecily Sims and eight great grandchildren.
