Jackie Lee Maples was born Feb. 21, 1946 in Granbury, TX to Jack Archie and Mrytle Mills Maples. Jackie passed away Feb. 7, 2012 in Garland, TX. Jackie proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. He received his master’s degree from North Texas State University, now University of North Texas. Jackie was an adult educator for the Boy Scouts of America. He was a long time member for Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Garland. He liked to entertain his grandchildren with his masterful storytelling and rock art. Jackie is preceded in death by his parents and wife Donna Maples. He is survived by his son, Jarrel Maples; daughter, Jolynn Maples; sister, Patricia Wrinkle; brother, James Maples; four grandchildren, Maya, Kayla, Jeries, and Jayden Lyles and six nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held, 11:00 AM, Monday, February 13, 2012 at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Garland. Donations in Jackie’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association. Inurnment will be held at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.
