Jo Ellen “Jody” Harmon, 82, of Richardson, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Jody was born on February 15, 1943, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Frances and Howard Margrave. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961 and later attended the University of Texas at Arlington.
A cherished story in her family is how she met her beloved husband, Larry. While in her dorm at UT Arlington, Jody was asked if she wanted to go on a blind date—with an Aggie. She said “Yes!”—even though she later admitted she wasn’t quite sure what an Aggie was. That weekend sparked a lifelong love. After a period of writing letters back and forth, they were married in 1963 at Cochran Chapel Methodist Church and soon moved to Arizona. In 1966, they returned to Dallas and settled in Richardson.
Jody was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She poured her heart into her family, her home, and her community. Though she worked part-time in childcare, her full-time devotion was to her daughters and their many activities. She was deeply involved in her church and community, participating in the Cochran Chapel crafters and the Open Door class, as well as the Richardson Newcomers and Neighbors Club and the Richardson Newcomers and Neighbors Book Club.
Jody was preceded in death by her loving parents, Frances and Howard Margrave. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Larry Harmon; her brother, Bruce Margrave, and his wife, Jan; her daughters Joelle Goad and husband Rick, and Kristi Morgan and husband Gregory; and her treasured grandchildren, Adam Goad, Josh Morgan, and Kathleen Morgan. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Debbie Witte, brother-in-law Jim Harmon, and his wife Kathy; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Jody’s warmth and unwavering kindness touched all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lifelong friendships.
