Linda Ann Minshew Metcalfe of Dallas, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2026 at the age of 88. She was born to William Thomas Minshew and Velma Lee Smith Minshew in Hawkins, Texas, on July 9, 1937.
Linda graduated from Hawkins High School in 1955, where she was a member of the band and newspaper staff. She then attended Tyler Junior College, graduating in 1957. While at TJC she was a member of the Apache Band that performed in the 1957 Sugar Bowl game between Baylor and Tennessee. She then attended the University of North Texas, graduating cum laude with a business degree in 1959. Later that year she married Don Metcalfe of Dallas in her east Texas hometown of Hawkins. In 1960, they joined First Baptist Dallas, where they remained active members and served in various capacities over the years.
Linda’s Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. She attended her Monday morning prayer group for 40 years, participated in Bible Study Fellowship, Women’s Bible Study at First Baptist Dallas, and the Celebration Singers. She served on the women’s auxiliary boards of Criswell College and Dallas Baptist University. An avid soul winner, Linda eagerly shared about Jesus wherever she went, participating in mission trips to Ukraine and Argentina.
Linda was totally supportive of Don’s endeavors as an attorney and State Judge of Criminal District Court No. 2 in Dallas County, a judicial career that spanned 32 years. She cherished her family and loved them deeply, and was their biggest cheerleader. She supported them wholeheartedly at every game, recital, and special event. Her unwavering presence and encouragement meant the world to her children and grandchildren, and she took pride in celebrating their every achievement.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Don Metcalfe; her three children, Scott Metcalfe (Beverly), Tony Metcalfe (Jennifer), and Carol Metcalfe Thomas (John); her grandchildren, Julian (Whitney), Chad, Phillip (Rheagan), Elizabeth, Andrew (Sydney), and Sarah (John David); and her great-grandchildren, Amelia Metcalfe, Ellington Metcalfe, and Lydia and Anna Newman.
Her family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Jackson’s Place care home, including Joy, Karrisma, and Needmore, for their loving care of Linda.
