He was born in Dallas, TX on January 26, 1940. Norman graduated from Rylie High School in 1958 where he met his sweetheart and wife, Patsy Lucile Boatwright Glaze. Patsy and Norman were married on July 26, 1958, and spent 67 years together as husband and wife.
Norman was employed by the City of Dallas for 33 years in various supervisory roles including Water Superintendent for Dallas Water Utilities. He also worked in Special Projects in the Engineering Operations Department over water. During this time, he also worked part-time for East Texas Motor Freight and Big State Motor Freight as an Operation Manager and Supervisor of Operations. After retiring from the City of Dallas, he went on to serve the Town of Sunnyvale, TX, inspecting water and waste for new construction projects before being promoted to Director of Utilities, a position he held until his retirement. He also served as a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for 12 years.
One of Norman ‘s proudest achievements was serving for 25 years as a Volunteer Fireman for the Town of Sunnyvale as First Training Officer, Deputy Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. He attended fire trainings weekly and participated in the Emergency Management Service, selflessly dedicating himself to the safety of Sunnyvale and its residents.
Norman was a believer and follower of Jesus Christ and faithfully attended First Baptist Dallas. He and his wife Patsy were active members of the Believers Bible Class prior to becoming homebound. By his profession of faith in Jesus, his family rests in the comfort that he is now with his Savior in heaven.
When he wasn’t working or helping others, he had a passion for gardening, traveling and spending time with his family.
Norman was unwaveringly dedicated to serving his community and his family throughout his life, consistently placing the needs of others ahead of his own.
